Woody Harrelson plays a slow character who takes on the role of a superhero, but there's nothing super about him. He's out to track down and stop “Captain Industry”. Befriending a junkie, he protects her and is lead to believe his arch villain is within reach – a criminal involved with a corrupt cop.

With spoofs like Kick-Ass and Superhero Movie taking a more tongue in cheek look at the genre, Defendor can almost be part of this sub-genre, although the more serious dramatic issues in the story overshadows the comedic situations as this hapless saviour takes on an invisible foe with a range of ludicrous methods.
